VISUAL CONVERSATIONS

Neighborhood House Project

I have been busy these past few years…working on a project as a volunteer for Neighborhood House. My brother David and I collaborated on producing a book on the history of the agency, including stories of past and present residents. We received a grant from Humanities Washington and held two panel discussions, one at the UW and recently at the Seattle Public Library. The panel discussions went well, as they focused on the stories of immigrants, refugees and the residents who have been supported by Neighborhood House. Neighborhood House was started in 1906 by the Council of Jewish Women, Seattle Section, to provide services to Jewish refugees fleeing persecution and the pogroms in Eastern Europe. Through the decades, the agency has supported new groups of refugees, including people from other parts of the world. The book is now complete.
You can see a copy of the visual history on the Neighborhood House Web site.
